Notch is an ensemble collective that produces ephemeral performances where the production of food, dining and hospitality are experienced as discursive practices. Site-sensitive and research-based, each event challenges assumptions about food and service with elements of progressive cooking and active social exchange. Negotiated between the positions alienated labor and luxury consumption, Notch expands the political and social possibilities of an eating engagement by inciting conversation and debate in the kitchen and at the table. Notch revalues the act of collective cooking, and complicates the relationship between host and guest.
